Dr. Eric Lam completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Alberta in 2002 and completed a Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Alberta in 2003. He then went on to further subspecialize in endoscopic ultrasound at the Université de Montréal completed in 2004. He then returned to St. Paul’s Hospital where he has been on staff since 2004. His clinical interests include pancreaticobiliary diseases, premalignant tumors of the GI tract and endoscopic innovation.
Dr. Lam’s research interests are in the field of endoscopic outcomes research in endoscopic ultrasound, ERCP, and endoscopic submucosal dissection.
Dr. Lam’s enjoys teaching clinical gastroenterology to medical students, residents, gastroenterology residents and subspecialty endoscopy fellows. He has been on the Adult GI Residency Training Committee since 2004 and was appointed Program Director in 2016. He has also been on the Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Program committee since 2006. He has won several teaching awards from the gastroenterology residents.
